Yep, I did it. There’s still snow on Rathdrum mountain. It’s not Mother’s day. It’s not Memorial Day. It’s still freezing at night. The trees in the yard haven’t started budding yet. I ignored every sign of Spring coming and still went out into the garden and planted new flowers.
And not just one or two that looked “good” or “healthy” from one of the big box stores. Oh no! I threw down 30 strawberry plants. I put in 10 new raspberries. I planted 25 new lilies. There’s still snow hiding in the dark shadows of our gardens. But I’m just done waiting for Spring to finally get here.
I wish that was all, but the flower catalogs took over my imagination a few months ago. I have another 30+ plants arriving in the next couple of days. There are close to 300 seedlings growing in our greenhouse. Whether Spring wants to show up or not, we’re not waiting anymore. It’s time for this garden to wakeup and start growing!
